encompassing Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island and Maine.
The depth of knowledge, diversity, and technology that is represented by
the people and companies of this region is extensive. Whether you are
new to the industry or a seasoned veteran, you can be sure to learn something
through the interesting people, informative speakers, and outstanding tours
that the programming committee presents each year.
We
welcome any comments or questions and look forward to hearing from anyone

The Northeastern Section, Institute of Food Technologists (NEIFT) will be hosting a vibrant Meet and Greet event on March 6th, 2024 from 5:30 PM -7:00 PM in the Basalt Room at the Quincy Marriot following the RCA Expo. With this event, we will bring together professionals, experts, and enthusiasts of the food industry, while discovering more about IFT and our regional chapter. Join us for a delightful evening of networking, collaborating, and sharing our passion for food science & culinary arts. Food & beverages will be provided. We hope to see you all there!

Regional News
We said goodbye on January 10, 2021 to Mike Sanna, a longtime member of the NEIFT and friend. Details can be found at Michael Sanna - Obituary - Abington, MA - Blanchard Funeral Chapel | CurrentObituary.com
Michael was a graduate of UMASS Amherst, part of the fraternity Lamda Chi Alpha. It was there he co-authored a book with Dr. Francis, and graduated with his Bachelor's in Food Science. He later went on to graduate from Bridgewater State with a Bachelor's in Education. Years later, he was a columnist for the South Shore News, and proudly wrote the column "Let's Talk about Food." In addition, he was an officer in IFT (Institute ofl Food Technologists). Michael also worked at James O. Welch as a Candy Technologist, and later worked for Ocean Spray in Hanson. He was a Food Scientist at Brady Enterprises for 51 years.

Toni Ruth Manning, 73, of Shelburne Falls passed away on Thursday October 8, 2020. She was the owner and founder of TRM Food Consultants
Toni was born on October 17, 1946, in Greenfield, MA, the daughter of the late Farley A. Manning and Ruth F. Koegel.
Toni attended Stoneleigh-Burnham school and received her degree in food science from UMass and her MBA from the University of Baltimore. She had a distinguished career in the food industry business while living in Baltimore but ultimately returned home to Shelburne Falls. Her passions were traveling and developing gluten free recipes with her ultimate goal to publish a cookbook.
Toni was an active member in her community and donated countless hours of her time serving on various boards/ committees. She was a member of Les Dames d'Escoffier of Boston and Baltimore/Washington, a member of Research Chefs Association of New England and Northeast section IFT
She is survived by her cat Vinny and her cousin June Willson Kennedy and her family. She was the beloved step Aunt to Becky Magee, Kristen Stewart and her family, and step sister in law Jeanne Elliott.
