Introducing our Presenters

Chef David Ehrlinger, Senior Manager of Culinary Innovation, Ocean Spray Ingredients

      While growing up on Long Island NY, David started his culinary journey the way most chefs do, washing dishes. At 13 washing dishes in a pizzeria and sweeping up at a bakery was as close as he could get to the action. A handful of local restaurants later, David was confident he wanted to continue his lifelong career in food and found Johnson & Wales to be a perfect next step. Attending the Providence campus David spent half of his time focusing on classic culinary fundamentals and half on a foundation of nutritional information. David would next spend four years working at McCormick & Co. as an innovation chef. His role supported new product development for retail, foodservice and industrial customers. After leaving McCormick, David led the US Pret A Manger food team based out of Union Square in NYC developing the food and beverages for the 53 US locations in four states. David next moved on to be the Corporate Research Chef as a part of the Global R&D PepsiCo Culinary Beverages Team. After 6 years with PepsiCo he moved to his current position at Ocean Spray. Now in his current role, David leads the culinary team at Ocean Spray as their Executive Chef.

Marissa Gutoff, Principal Product Development Scientist, Ocean Spray Ingredients
    Marissa attended UMass Amherst for undergraduate (nutrition) and graduate (food science). She moved to San Francisco to work at a startup, and continued to work in startup and small companies in SF and Boston until 2018 when she joined Dunkin Brands. From Dunkin, she joined Ocean Spray in March of 2020.

Chef Charles Morrill, Research Chef, Ocean Spray Ingredients
    Charles grew up North of Burlington, VT, and currently resides in Providence, RI. He is an Alumni of Johnson & Wales Univ. ’17. He has many years of restaurant kitchen experience and has also helped launch a local snack brand startup based out of southern Rhode Island. He is now part of the Ocean Spray Culinary Product Development team working on new and exciting products and applications.

Our annual Student Scholarships are scheduled to be awarded in April 2021!
